Over the years, we have welcomed a wide range of creative projects, from commercial advertising campaigns and music videos to fashion shoots, promotional content and independent film productions. The diner's authentic 1950s aesthetic offers a ready-made backdrop that requires little additional set dressing, making it an ideal location for both professional and independent productions.
Our venue is available for hire on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when the diner is closed to the public. We offer flexible access and are happy to discuss individual production requirements to help bring your creative vision to life.

Chinese whispers - Deborah Hadfield
On a snow-dusted Christmas Eve, five friends reunite for a long-overdue memorial, gathering to honor a schoolmate who passed away years prior. What begins as a nostalgic tribute quickly transforms into an emotionally charged evening of reckoning.
As the night unfolds, the boundaries between the past and the present blur, exposing long-buried secrets and testing the loyalties that have bound them since youth. Chinese Whispers is a poignant exploration of lost souls and the desperate, flickering hope for second chances in the quiet corners of the Midlands.
Transforming a slice of the Midlands into the vast, sun-drenched expanse of the American desert was a triumph of creative problem-solving and pure cinematic illusion. To capture the quintessential "Style with Soul" aesthetic required for the film, our team utilized a remarkably authentic 1950s American diner located in Swadlincote. By leveraging precise camera angles, strategic lighting that mimicked the harsh, golden-hour intensity of the Mojave, and careful production design, we stripped away the local surroundings to create an isolated, heat-hazed atmosphere. It was a perfect example of how film magic—and a dedicated crew—can transport a narrative across continents without ever leaving home.
When I first stepped into the diner, I knew immediately it had to be a centerpiece of the film," says writer and director Deborah Hadfield. "It possesses this incredible, untouched authenticity and a heavy atmosphere that you simply cannot replicate with a studio set. It feels like a place where time stands still, which was exactly what I needed for the tone of Chinese Whispers."
Beyond the aesthetic, the experience of filming there was truly wonderful," Deborah adds. "The owners and the entire team were exceptionally welcoming. They understood our vision from the start and went above and beyond to accommodate the demands of our production. Having that level of support on set is invaluable; it allows you to focus entirely on the craft, and I am so grateful for their partnership in bringing this vision to life."
